It converts a band of frequencies from a lower frequency to a higher frequency.The Ku-band frequency is protected by international laws. The Ku-band downlink is from 10.7 to 12.75 GHz and the uplink is from 12.75 to 18.1 GHz. Ku-band satellite single-transponder power is generally large, mostly using shaped beam coverage, satellite EIRP is larger, and Ku-band receiving antenna is more efficient than C-band receiving antenna, so the antenna aperture for receiving Ku-band satellite programs is much smaller than C-band.
