The lever is responsible for sensing the bucket?s motion and close and open the trap valve in accordance with it. When the inverted bucket is surrounded by the condensate on the outside and air or steam flow from the bottom, the bucket becomes buoyant and rises due to the steam. In this condition, the inverted bucket forces the trap valve to close. A small at the top off the inverted bucket, known as vent hole is the place where small amount of pressure can be released.
